Whitney Jade Amstutz, 2 year old daughter of Aaron and Verna Amstutz of Wooster, died peacefully Friday, November 15, 2019 at her home.
She was born in Orrville, Ohio on October 12, 2017. She lived most of her life in Ukraine with her parents at a mission.
Whitney was tenderly cared for by her parents and a close aunt, Laura Steiner, as she suffered from ADSL deficiency. Seizures and medication filled so much of her life, but she also had many enjoyable days. She was a very sweet and happy little girl.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by grandparents, Arthur and Lorraine Amstutz of Orrville and Maurice and Marion Steiner of Apple Creek; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the East Union Mennonite Church, 10678 E. Old Lincoln Way, Orrville where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.

Auker, Charlene Martin
April 12, 1971-April 23, 2019
Charlene M. Auker of Mount Pleasant Mills, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, after an illness of about three months.
Charlene was born on April 12, 1971. On Jan. 2, 1999, she was married to Luke W. Auker.
Leaves to mourn her departure, in addition to her husband, a son Darvin, and a daughter, Shelby, both at home; her parents, Harvey and Gladys (Stauffer) Martin of Port Trevorton; ten sisters and two brothers, Sharon and Linda Martin of Mount Pleasant Mills, Debbie and Lester Stauffer of Selinsgrove, Janice and Sean Sensenig and Yvonne and Bryan Sensenig of Tunas, Mo., Clifford and Diane Martin and Eric and Margaret Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Marie and Brian Stauffer of Liverpool, Wayne and Kathleen Martin of Beavertown, Carolyn and Nathan Lee Martin of Mount Pleasant Mills, Joanne and Roger Brubaker of Commodore, Pa., and Lorna and Ronnie Brubaker of Shobonier, Ill.; 47 nieces and nephews; one great- nephew; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Charlene was preceded in death by her grandparents, Allen and Anna Martin and David and Lydia Stauffer, and one nephew, Ricky Brubaker.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing at the home of her parents, Harvey and Gladys Martin, 110 Old Trail Road, Port Trevorton on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at her parents home on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at noon with further services at 12:30 p.m. at Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church McKees District, Old Trail Road and Oriental Road, Liverpool.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Luke W. Auker, 50, of Mount Pleasant Mills, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1969, a son of the late Paul and Emeline (Wenger) Auker. On Jan. 2, 1999, he was married to the former Charlene Martin who preceded him on April 23, 2019.
Luke was a member of Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church, McKees District.

Auker, Weaver S., 83, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at home. He was born in West Earl Township to the late Weaver B. and Lizzie Z. (Shaub) Auker and was the husband of Bertha Z. (Martin) Auker.
He was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church. Weaver was a self- employed harness maker.
In addition to his wife, Weaver is survived by four siblings, Clarence Auker of Ephrata, Earl, husband of Fianna (Brubaker) Auker of Ephrata, Mary, wife of Allen Zimmerman of Clark Range, TN, Phares, husband of Lena (Martin) Auker of Selinsgrove and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Raymond and Paul Auker.
A viewing will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at the late residence, 2386 Division Highway, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, 2019 at 9 am, at the late residence, with further service at 9:30 am, from the Stauffer Mennonite Church, Earl Township. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery

Bachman, Weldon "Bud", 95, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died November 19, 2019 at the same place. He was born March 24, 1924 in Harvey Co., KS to Gerhard and Ella (Ewy) Bachman. On October 27, 1950 he was married to Arline M. Young, who was born November 2, 1929 and died February 17, 2018.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Valorie) Bachman and Randy (Shannon) Bachman; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, Jerry, a daughter, Vickie, and a sister, Lois Davis preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held November 30, 2019 at Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston, KS with burial in West Zion Cemetery, Moundridge, McPherson Co., KS.

TAMPICO - Lois Ellen (Kropf) Baker 53 of Tampico, IL passed away at her home with her family by her side on March 11, 2019. She was born Nov 30, 1965 at Indianapolis IN to Harold and Rosanna Kropf of Tampico, IL. She was married to Nathan L Baker on November 30, 1990. She was a member of the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church of Tampico.
She is survived by her husband Nathan; 3 sons: Jaron, Joel, Jason; 3 daughters: Lori, Linda and Lily all of Tampico, IL. Her parents Harold and Rosanna Kropf; 5 brothers Arnold Kropf of Tampico IL, Dennis Kropf of Tampico IL, Dale Kropf of Minerva OH, Douglas Kropf of Tampico IL, Darrell Kropf of Red Bluff CA; 4 sisters: Leila Hostetler (Kent) of Maquoketa IA, Luanne Kropf of Tampico IL, Lynette Kropf (Ralph) of Tampico IL, Loretta Kropf of Tampico IL; and Nathans parents, Donald and Loretta Baker.
Visitation hours will be Thursday March 14, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite School. Funeral services will follow on Friday March 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Cemetery.
Bare, Elvin Robert "Bob" of Landis Homes, Lititz, passed away at the age of 90 on August 16, 2019. Born in Bird-in-Hand, he was the son of the late Elvin K. and Evelyn (Hoober) Bare and step-son of the late Marian (Hershey) Bare. Bob was the loving husband of Elva (Sauder) Bare with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage in October. Bob was an active member of Stumptown Mennonite Church, where he was carried into the church as a baby. He served as a youth leader, chairman of the finance committee and as trustee. He was devoted to his family, church, friends and community.
He retired from E. K. Bare and Sons Inc., a business he started with his brother Jake and father in 1948. Their business grew to transporting potatoes from across the U.S. to numerous potato chip companies. He also visited many potato growers across the country. When Bob married, he established a dairy farm in addition to his work with E. K. Bare and Sons. His son eventually managed the dairy farm.
He served on the former Leola National Bank and as an advisory board member for Fulton Bank for 22 years. He enjoyed helping people with their businesses.
He belonged to several social groups: Do Nothing Club of Smoketown, Happy 40s, 60s (a group of friends that celebrated 40 years of marriage and 60 years of life), and Green Laurel Hunting Camp. He and Elva enjoyed 30 winters in Sarasota, Florida.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Elva, three daughters and one son: Carol Hess, wife of Nelson Hoover and the late Gerald Hess, Karen Diffenbach, wife of Abram, Donald Bare, husband of Brenda, Julia Horst, wife of Robert, all of Lancaster, and fourteen grandchildren: Tricia (Bare) Stoltzfus, Tara (Bare) Kenkelen, Travis Bare, Trevor Bare, Ryan Linder Hess, Laura (Hess) King, Hamilton (Kam) Emery, Karisten (Emery) Buckwalter, Kendra (Emery) Lucking, Abigale Diffenbach, Jacqueline (Horst) Halladay, Ragen Horst, Joseph Horst, and Rachel Horst, and thirty-two great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Jacob Bare, husband of Ruth of Bird-in-Hand, Arlene Clark, wife of the late Lloyd Clark of Lancaster, Hershey Bare, husband of Mary Ann of Lebanon, Harold Bare, husband of the late Esther of Paradise, and Gloria Blank, wife of Paul of Parkesburg.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service honoring Bob's life at Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Rd., Bird in Hand on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 2:30 pm. The family will greet friends after the service. Viewings will be Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the church. Private interment: Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery.

Bauer, Royal H.
January 31, 1923 - December 29, 2019
Royal H. Bauer, 96, of Goshen, died 8:25 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Greencroft Gables.
He was born January 31, 1923, in Peoria, Illinois to Ernest and Catherine (Stieglitz) Bauer.
Royal graduated from Goshen College in 1946 and from the Biblical Seminary in 1948. On August 7, 1948 he married Evelyn Showalter in Holsopple, Pennsylvania.
Royal and Evelyn were missionaries to India from 1949 to 1952. After returning home they moved to Goshen in 1954. Royal taught English and Bible and became the librarian at Bethany Christian High School from 1955-1988. He volunteered there many years after retiring.
Royal and Evelyn moved to Greencroft in 1991. He taught Sunday school in Central Manor for 47 years. He was also a pastoral visitor with College Mennonite Church.
Royal lovingly took care of Evelyn following their return to the States after she contracted polio in India. Royal enjoyed relationships with family, students and colleagues. He was a friend to all and remembered the names of everyone he met, even if they were his students 50 years ago. He never forgot a name or face.
He taught himself to play the organ years ago and he always enjoyed playing hymns for others. At Greencroft you would often hear him playing the organ before meals or before exercise class. He occasionally gave “concerts” when living at Walnut Court with his doors opened and neighbors bringing chairs outside to listen.
Royal had a brother, Walter Bauer and two sisters, Margaret Ackerman and Maurine Sawatzky who preceded him in death. Evelyn died on “resurrection day” in 1997.
Surviving are his son, Stephen (Shirley Saltzman) Bauer of Melbourne, Florida, two granddaughters, Angela (Eric) Zickafoose of Brandon, Florida and Alissa (David) Smith of Tauranga, New Zealand and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Mennonite Mission Board.

Bauman, Alice M. Nikkel
September 7, 1928 - June 15, 2019
Alice M. Bauman, 90, of Elkhart, died Saturday morning, June 15, 2019 at Green House Village in Goshen.
Alice was born September 7, 1928 in Bakersfield, CA to the late David and Frieda (Enns) Nikkel. As Alice Nikkel, she married Clarence Bauman, professor of ethics at the Anabaptist Mennonite Seminary, on August 27, 1954 in Shafter, CA. Clarence died August 20, 1995.
Alice studied at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. She also studied at UCLA where she majored in English literature and psychology. She later studied in Detmold, Germany at the music academy; DePaul University where she studied piano; University of Edinburgh where she studied history and also in Jerusalem with the Martin Buber Dialogical Society
She taught piano for many years in British Columbia, Bad Godesberg, Germany as well as Elkhart. She was also very instrumental in assisting her husband for six years in Bonn, Germany with the East/West Peace Relations. Alice also enjoyed reading and was active with the Great Books Discussion Club. She and Clarence started and facilitated a Silent Meeting in Elkhart. Her latter years were spent at the edge of a seminary campus in the Hermitage praying after the manner of Russian Poustinia.
Private services will be held at a later date. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bauman, Dolores May Godshall, 76, of Pennsburg, Montgomery Co., PA died March 17, 2019 at Allentown, Lehigh Co., PA. She was born October 8, 1942 at to Stanley W. and Minerva (Landis) Godshall. On August 13, 1966 she was married to Wilbur Eugene Bauman, who was born June 21, 1943 and survives.
Surviving are children, Angie D. Clemens and husband Jim and Tony Bauman and wife Pam; four grandchildren, and siblings, Leon Godshall and wife Carol; Samuel Godshall and wife Sharon; Glenn Godshall and wife Cindy; and Norell Godshall.
Memorial services were held March 31, 2019 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysvill, Montgomery Co., PA.
Bauman, Elsie G. Wenger, 65, of Manheim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Menno M. and Anna Gehman Wenger. She was the wife of J. Stephen Bauman for 39 years. Elsie was a member of White Oak Mennonite Church, Manheim.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Raymond J. husband of Ronalda (Gehman) Bauman of Denver, Rodney L. husband of Janelle (Reiff) Bauman of Loysville and Reynold M. husband of Audrey (Nolt) Bauman of Manheim, four grandchildren and siblings: Lena G. Wenger of Manheim, Martha G. Wenger of Morgantown, Isaac G. husband of Louella (Martin) Wenger of Shermansdale, Paul G. Wenger of Orrstown, Eli G. husband of Luella (Zimmerman) Wenger of Manheim, Menno G. Jr. husband of Alta (Kurtz) Wenger of Middleburg, Edith G. wife of John Meadows of Lebanon, Anna G. wife of Glen Weaver of Millmont, Alice G. Hostetter of New York, Irvin G. husband of Anna Mae (Kuhns) Wenger of Three Springs, Ellen G. wife of Carl Harter of Lititz and brother-in-law, E. Clair Hostetter of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Freida G. Wenger and Alta G. Wenger.
Funeral services will be held at the White Oak Mennonite Church, 2456 Newport Road, Manheim on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. The Buch Funeral Home, Manheim is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel H. Beachy, 97, of Goshen, died at 9:48 pm on Sunday, August 25, at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1922 in LaGrange County, to Henry and Emma (Bontrager) Beechy. On November 11, 1943 in Elkhart County he married Viola Miller; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Wilda (Ron) Mast of Millersburg; four sons, Elmer (Rosetta) Beachy of Goshen, Richard (Ruby) Beachy of Champaign, IL, Lavern (Joan) Beachy of Middlebury, Wilmer (Deb) Beachy of Wolcottville; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Susie Schlabach of Goshen, Katie (Amos) Miller of Middlebury, Amanda Christner of Topeka, Ida Christner of Mongo; brother, Levi Beechy of Humansville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joni Beachy; sister, Amanda Schrock.
Daniel was a charter member of Woodlawn Mennonite Church. He worked construction and volunteered at Menno Hof and Mennonite Disaster Service. He managed 5 1/2 years at MCC Great Lakes and 14 years at the Depot. He was the treasurer and a long time board member at Clinton Christian School and served on the Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale for many years. At 90 years old Daniel authored his autobiography, Home Alone at thirteen.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27 and 2:00 - 4:00 and 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 28 at Woodlawn Mennonite Church, 62861 CR 41, Goshen. There will also be one hour of viewing prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Thursday, August 29 also at the church. Services will be conducted by the Woodlawn
Ministry Team. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be given to Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS).
Beachy, Fannie A. Helmuth
May 3, 1931 - May 9, 2019
Fannie A. (Helmuth) Beachy, age 88, of Sarasota, FL, and Nappanee, IN, died at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019 at her residence. Fannie was born May 3, 1931 in Nappanee to Andrew and Clara (Hershberger) Helmuth. On March 29, 1970 she married Manasseh J. Beachy. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1990.
Surviving are step children, Ezra (Norma) Beachy, Menno (Betty) Beachy, John (Louise) Beachy, Shirley Roaden, all of Kokomo, IN, Ada (Beachy) Hooley, LaGrange, IN; 17 step grandchildren; 67 step great-grandchildren; 44 step great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Crist and Harry Helmuth; sisters, Katie (Atlee) Raber, Martha Helmuth, Laura (Henry) Yoder, Minnie (Clarence) Yoder; stepchildren, Mary (Allen) Bontrager, Melvin (Ada) Beachy; 4 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren.
She was lovingly cared for the last few years by her nieces Martha and Betty Raber.
Fannie was an LPN in her younger years.
Visitation will be from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 and one hour prior to the 2:30 p.m. funeral service Sunday, May 12th all at Maple Lawn Church (29267 C.R. 52, Nappanee, IN). Home Ministry, Thomas Mast, Gary Borkholder and Paul Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Beachy, Moses Andrew
May 29, 1925 - September 14, 2019
Moses Andrew Beachy, 94, a resident of Greencroft Communities in Goshen, passed away on September 14, 2019 at Goshen General Hospital after suffering a severe stroke. He was born in Kokomo, IN on May 29, 1925, the fifth in a family of ten children, four of whom survive. In 1950 he married Ada Barbara Miller, who passed away in 2005.
They are survived by their five children, Paul Beachy, John Beachy both of Colorado Springs, CO, Philip (Katrin Andreasson) Beachy of Stanford, CA, Barbara (Pete) Yoder of Goshen and Robert Beachy of Seoul, South Korea; four grandchildren, Chelsea Bontrager, Tyson (Sarah) Bontrager, Christopher Beachy, and Jasper Beachy; two step-grandchildren, Amie (Mark) Sankey and Amanda Yoder; two great-grandchildren, Quinn Bontrager and Aria Bontrager; three-step great grandchildren, Marie, Joe, and Anna Sankey; four sisters, Mary Gingrich of Canton OH, Bertha Beachy of Goshen, Wilma Gingrich, Clara (Edward) Yoder both of Harrisonburg, VA; sister-in-law, Edna Beachy of IN. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Floyd and Alvin Beachy; three sisters, Esther Beachy, Fannie Miller, and Verna Yoder.
Moses grew up on Amish family farms, first in Kokomo until 1941, then in Kalona, IA. As a conscientious objector he served in Civilian Public Service from 1946-1948, including a twenty month period at a hospital in Puerto Rico. During the period from 1948-1957 he taught at several Christian Day Schools in Plain City, OH and Goshen and he married Ada and started a family. He also pursued his own education, eventually completing a B.A. in Bible at Eastern Mennonite College (1954) and a B.S. in Elementary Education at Goshen College (1957).
After a two year stint as a teacher and pastor among native peoples in the far reaches of northern Ontario, Canada, he moved with his wife Ada and family to Puerto Rico where from 1960-1968 he served as a rural pastor. Upon returning to Goshen, he became a minister at East Goshen Mennonite Church and received his Master of Divinity degree from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries in Elkhart (1971). His deep passion for working with Hispanic people became apparent from the activities of LaCasa, a church-and-philanthropy-supported social service agency based in Goshen IN that he founded in 1968, and which became his full-time occupation from 1974-1988. Subsequent years were filled with a three-year period of service in Nicaragua under Mennonite Central Committee (1989-1991) and volunteer activities as a translator and activist in Goshen. Moses is remembered for his energy and his outgoing nature; his wide-ranging activities were made possible by the warmth and love brought into his home and family by his wife, Ada, whom he treasured.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 22 followed by a 4:30 pm Celebration of Life Service at East Goshen Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Naomi Yoder and Merle Hostetler. Burial will be at a later date in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Seniors for Peace, East Goshen Mennonite Church or LaCasa.
Beachy, Neal M.
August 26, 1947 - November 14, 2019
Neal M. Beachy, age 72, of Etna Green, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his residence, after a three month battle with cancer. He was born August 26, 1947 in Kokomo, IN to Manasses M. and Elizabeth (Hochstedler) Beachy. On August 20, 1971 he married JoAnn Schwietert in Middlebury. They moved to the Etna Green area in the spring of 1979. He was a longtime member of Maple City Chapel in Goshen.
Neal enjoyed many years raising hogs on his farm, and in recent years he worked as a driver for the local Amish community. Neal loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports, playing in church and local softball leagues for both men and coed teams. Neal also enjoyed bowling and cornhole. He could frequently be found playing in local cornhole tournaments.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Beachy, Etna Green; daughters, Kim (Brant) Mishler, New Paris, Christina (Daniel) Scott, Nappanee; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tennyson; sisters, Marie Black, PA and Sue (Delbert) Lindley, Greentown, IN. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Beachy.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2019 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 19th at Maple City Chapel. Pastor Gary Miller and Lee Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Fairhaven Amish Mennonite Cemetery, Goshen.

Becker, Willard, 98, of Sheboygan, WI, formerly of Freeman, SD died February 14, 2019 at Sheboygan, WI. He was born April 10, 1920 at Marion, SD to Daniel A. and Anna (Tieszen) Becker. On November 10, 1963 he was married to Bertha K. Pollman, who is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Dean (Amy) Becker; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Eva Goosen and Lily (Carl) Schroeder.
His siblings, Herbert Becker; Amelia (Robert) Epp; Emma (Lester) Schroeder; and Anna May (Velmar) Rudiger preceded him in death.

Elva W. Beechy, 96, of Millersburg, died at 3:12 am on Wednesday, July 24, at Goshen Health Hospital. He was born on February 27, 1923 in Lagrange County to William and Amanda (Schrock) Beechy. On March 9, 1944 in LaGrange County he married Beulah Mae Mast, she died March 31, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters, Esther Yoder of Millersburg and Freida (Mike) Katsaros of Sarasota, FL; five sons, Robert LaVern Beechy of Shreveport, LA, Harley (Jennifer) Beechy of Millersburg, Bill (Kim) Beechy of Middlebury, Edwin (Carolyn) Beechy of Millersburg, Floyd (Michelle) Beechy of Millersburg; 14 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Menno) Yoder of Shipshewana and Amanda Miller of Chouteau, OK; brother-in-law, Ora Weirich of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Jackie Beechy Mazzoni of Matteson, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter and her husband, Carol Ann (Eldon) Miller; grandson, Merlin Miller; step granddaughter, Candie Targgart; four brothers, Ammon, Vernon, Raymond, William, Jr. Beechy; three sisters, Mary Miller, Anna Miller, Katherine Weirich; two sisters in law, Ida Beechy and Georigia Beechy; three brothers in law, John Miller, Amzie Miller, Irvin Miller.
Elva was a member of Fairhaven Mennonite Church. He was a farmer all his life until retiring in 2016. He operated the Millersburg elevator from 1970 to 1985, farming was his life.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 26, and 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Saturday, July 27, at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, 13513 State Road 4 Goshen. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 28, also at the church. Services will be conducted by the Fairhaven Mennonite Church Ministry Team. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.

Beidler, Rodney "Rod" Metz, 62, of Perkasie, PA died April 23, 2019 at the same place. He was born June 15, 1956 at Sellersville, PA to Willard and Mamie (Metz) Beidler. On July 1, 1979 he was married to Wendy Lou Rice, who was born March 19, 1955 and survives.
Surviving are children, Travis W. Beidler & wife, Jessica, and Marissa K. Moyer & husband, Charles "CK"; three grandchildren, and his siblings, Darlene Alderfer, Thelma Hunsberger & husband, James, Donald Beidler & wife, Anita, David Beidler & wife, Doreen, and Joanna Beidler, Susan Beidler.

Rodney “Rod” Beidler, 62, of Perkasie, PA entered into rest on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the loving husband of Wendy (Rice) Beidler for 39 years. Rod was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Willard and Mamie (Metz) Beidler.
Rod attended Penn View Christian School and graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in 1974. After graduation, Rod worked as a stock clerk for Landis Supermarket, where he and Wendy met. Rod also worked as a mechanic at Cope’s Garage in Souderton. Later, he worked for over 25 years as an oil truck driver and dispatcher at Farm & Home Oil Company in Telford. Most recently, he worked as an oil driver for Moyer Indoor Outdoor in Souderton.
Rod was an active member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, where he served as a videographer for church events. In the past, he was also involved in the Boy’s Club and Junior Youth programs.
Rod loved spending time with his grandsons. He enjoyed annual family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey and spending quiet time at the cabin in the Poconos, where he could sip his coffee on the porch and watch the wildlife. Rod had a love for running that began with the cross-country team in high school. Later, he began running races and eventually marathons, including the Boston Marathon. He was a founding member of the “Big 4” running group, where he proudly earned the nickname Dr. Pain and enjoyed mentoring and encouraging new runners. Rod enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, and being outdoors.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Rod was a man of good grace and quiet humor, which was frequently accentuated with well-timed eye rolls and belly laughs. He was known for his open mind and calm demeanor, accepting and discussing others’ opinions without judgement. After his diagnosis, he cherished the time he was given, frequently noting, “It’s been a good six years.” He was thankful to see the marriages of his son and daughter and the births of his grandsons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Travis W. Beidler & wife, Jessica of Bechtelsville, PA; his daughter, Marissa K. Moyer & husband, Charles “CK” of Gilbertsville, PA; his three grandsons – Jackson, Tanner, & Lincoln; his two sisters, Darlene Alderfer of McAlisterville, PA, Thelma Hunsberger & husband, James of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA; his two brothers, Donald Beidler & wife, Anita of Leola, PA, David Beidler & wife, Doreen of White River Junction, VT; and his two sisters-in-law, Joanna Beidler of Randolph, VT & Susan Beidler of Florence, OR.
In addition to his parents, Rod was preceded in death by his two brothers, Murray Beidler & Willard Beidler, Jr. and his brother-in-law, Clyde Alderfer.

Beiler, Lois M. Weaver, 55, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.
She was born in Ephrata Township to the late Jonas and Phebe L. (Martin) Weaver and was the wife of Jacob E. Beiler, Jr. with whom she shared 28 years of marriage.
Lois was a member of Bethesda Christian Fellowship, Ephrata. She was a homemaker, home schooled her children and enjoyed reading.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Conrad Beiler, Megan, wife of Eli Fisher, Shiloh, Jethro, Logan, Quillan and Meredith Beiler; two grandchildren, Sheridan and Hadassah; seven siblings, Joseph, husband of Miriam Weaver, Nathan, husband of Kim Weaver, Peter, husband of Cheryl Weaver, Eunice, wife of Joseph Weaver, Noah, husband of Erma Weaver, Rhoda Weaver and Joy, wife of John Shirk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jacob Lane Beiler; four siblings, Miriam, Phebe, Daniel and Jonas Weaver.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville. Beiler, Priscilla K. Stoltzfus, age 86, of Lancaster, PA, passed away in Sarasota, Florida on Friday, November 29, 2019, with family at her side. Priscilla was the daughter of the late Samuel and Katie King Stoltzfus. She was married to the late Emanuel S. Beiler before his passing in 1991. Priscilla was a member of Worship Center in Leola, PA. She owned a variety of shops at farmers markets in New Jersey and Maryland. Priscilla loved her time with family and on many nights could be found playing card games, working on jigsaw puzzles, and reading. She especially enjoyed wintering at her house in Florida, and visiting with friends and family on her front porch in Pinecraft. Priscilla enjoyed watching the Phillies and thought they should have done better last season.
She is survived by her children, Kate, Omar, husband of Pat, Vern, married to Merrill Smucker, Sam, husband of Melody, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Priscilla was preceded in death by her daughter Linda. Priscilla is survived by her siblings, Amos Stoltzfus, married to Hannah, Katie Stoltzfus, wife of the late Ben F., Sadie Stoltzfus, married to Dan, and Lloyd, married to Debbie. She was predeceased by two sisters, Annie Stoltzfus, Naomi Blank, and a brother, Sam.
A memorial service will be held at the Strasburg Mennonite Church, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7th. There will be a time to greet the family beginning at 10 a.m., and continue following the burial. Interment will be in the Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.

Virginia Lou "Ginger" Bender, 78, of Middlebury, died at 1:45 am, on Tuesday, May 14 at Waterford Crossing Health Center, Goshen, after suffering a couple strokes the past few months. She was born on March 3, 1941, in Goshen, to Richard and Donna (Bailey) Patton. On June 6, 1959 in Middlebury, she married Mervin T. Bender; he died July 25, 2013.
Surviving are daughter, Linda (Dave) Hamilton of Middlebury; two sons, Randy and Larry Bender both of Middlebury; granddaughter, Ashley Hamilton; grandson, Austin Bender; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Ambrose, Noah Cronin, Harper Cronin.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Sally Stark; brother, Thomas Patton.
She was a homemaker and a grocery clerk for 15 years at Everett's Supermarket in Goshen. She and her husband chaperoned deaf and blind children from local schools as they were transported to school in Indianapolis for ten years.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, May 17 followed by a 6:00 pm funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Burial will be held at a later date in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Sam Troyer. Memorials may be given to Waterford Crossing Health Center.

Benner, Vivian Martin Troyer
February 10, 1927 - June 13, 2019
Vivian T. Martin Troyer Benner, 92, of Timberville, went to be with the Lord from the home of her step-granddaughter where she resided for the past 12 and a half months. She was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Elkhart County, Ind., and was the daughter of the late Willis and Nellie (Culp) Martin.
Vivian grew up in the Harrison Township community near Goshen, Ind., and attended the Dells school. She spent her lifetime serving others in many different ways; as a caregiver to children when she and her sister, Matie, had a day care in Elkhart, Ind., then she also spent a year in Waco, Texas, serving in a children's home. She cooked at the Greencroft Nursing Center for a number of years, then lovingly cared for the elderly entrusted to her when doing elder care after being widowed (in her later years).
She is survived by her sister, Matie L Layman (Greencastle, Pa.), sister-in-laws, Charlotte (Marion) Martin and Rosetta (Eugene) Martin, both of Goshen, Ind. Troyer and Benner step-children, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family was very important to Vivian and she always treasured spending time with them in visits, via phone calls or keeping in touch by remembering birthdays and anniversaries with a note and card.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Seth Troyer (Mio, Mich.) and Paul V. Benner (Harrisonburg). Brothers, Truman L., Leon V., Marion M. and Eugene M. Martin. Sisters, Louise A Zimmerman, Mildred M. and Meriam M. Martin.
Vivian was a member of the Bethany Mennonite Church in Briery Branch. She dearly loved her church family and interacting with them.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pike Mennonite Church, 31 Pike Church Road, Harrisonburg, Va. 22801. The memorial service will immediately follow the burial with the ministers of the church officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 18, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pike Mennonite Church. The family will also receive friends prior to the graveside service from 10-10:30 a.m.
Bergey, Ray Donald
August 19, 1933 - December 31, 2019
Ray Donald Bergey, 86, of Green Lane, Pennsylvania; formerly of Brooksville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.
He was the loving husband of Pauline H. (Kooker) Bergey for 65 years. Ray was born in Hatfield, Pennsylvania to the late Raymond W. Bergey and the late Katie L. (Bergey) Bergey.
Ray was self-employed painter for most of his life. He also worked in the lumber yard and retail for the former George S. Snyder. Ray served in 1-W Service in Farnhurst, DE.
He attended, and was a very active member at Lansdale Mennonite Church. Ray also served as a trustee and usher at Rockhill Mennonite Church.
He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with the family. Ray was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Since 1981, he looked forward to spending part of his winters in Florida.
Ray is survived by: two sons, Ray Donald Bergey Jr. and wife Mary of Telford, PA; Larry D. Bergey and wife Linda of Lansdale, PA; Daughter, Kathy A. Bergey of Canadensis, PA; 14 Grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and one sister, Sadie Beyer and her husband David of Souderton, PA.

Bergey, John, 94, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died November, 27, 2019 at the same place. He was born July 21, 1925 at Doylestown, Bucks Co., PA to Oliver and Ruth Bergey. On August 8, 1952 he was married to Betty J. Rice, who was born February 17, 1927 and died August 16, 2012.
Surviving are children, Diana (Phil) Hershberger; Jack Bergey; Priscilla (Gunther Groser) Bergey; and Mary Hope (Eddie) Cartagena; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Grace Brenneman, Chester Bergey, Eunice Hess, Lois Schwarzendruber, and Ted Bergey.

Beyer, Paul W., 88, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in Clay Township to the late Russell and Mary (Wissler) Beyer and was the husband of Martha (Newswanger) Beyer with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
He was a member of Millport Mennonite Church. He was also a lifetime member and fire police for Rothsville Fire Company.
Paul volunteered and worked for the Bowery Mission, NYC, for over 52 years.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by a son, Eugene, husband of Linda Beyer of Lititz, a daughter, Sandy, wife of Carl Gerlach of Beech Creek; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray, husband of Mary Ann Beyer of Ephrata and four sisters, Lois, wife of Ellis Zeiset of East Earl, Anna, wife of Melvin Gehman of Palmyra, Orpha Weaver of Bellville, Esther, wife of Amos Bange of Canada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Frey and a brother, Mark Beyer.

Marjorie Irene Bixler, 91, of Goshen, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born July 10, 1927 in LaGrange County to Maynard and Freeda (Miller) Atwater.
On July 8, 1951 she married David Bixler.
Mrs. Bixler is survived by daughters, Patricia Bixler of Goshen, Barbara (Gary) Lamb of Indianapolis and Joyce (Sajjan Wadhwani) Bixler of Long Beach, California; sons, Alan Bixler of Sandia Park, New Mexico and Donald (Nancy) Bixler of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter and four siblings, Margaret Miller of Bristol, Madonna Price of Ames, Iowa, Marilyn (Bill) Emmert of Albion and Mark (Clara) Atwater of LaGrange.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Martha Lou Neff and Merlin and Maurice Atwater.
A registered nurse, she graduated from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing and Goshen College. She was employed at Elkhart General for more than 40 years and was named the 1992 Employee of the Year. Mrs. Bixler was a member of College Mennonite Church where she served on the committee concerned with hunger and food concerns.
Visitation will be Monday, May 6, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Tuesday, May 7, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.
Private burial will be in Violett Cemetery.

A registered nurse, Marjorie graduated from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing and Goshen College. She was employed at Elkhart General Hospital for more than 40 years and was named the 1992 Employee of the Year. Marjorie was a member of College Mennonite Church where she served on the committee concerned with hunger and food concerns.
Memorial services were held May 7, 2019 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, IN.
Boll, Warren B., 87, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in Clay Twp., to the late Norman and Naomi (Burkholder) Boll and was the husband of the late Margaret B. (Felpel) Boll who passed away in 2015.
He was a member of Stumptown Mennonite Church.
Warren worked for Martin's Stone and High Steel before retiring. He then worked part-time for Oregon Dairy in maintenance.
Warren is survived by six siblings, Paul H., husband of Carol (Kauffman) Boll of Palmyra, Verna, wife of Samuel Brubaker of Manheim, John, husband of Anna Lois (Good) Boll of Bolner, NY, Mark B., husband of Roseanna (Eberly) Boll of Manheim, Martha B., wife of Dr. Marlin Nissley of Landis Homes, and Ray, husband of the late Gloria (Redcay) Boll of Ephrata.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Boll; a daughter, Audrey Lucille Boll and a sister, Reba Sensenig.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, JUNE 15, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM at the Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-in-Hand, followed by funeral services at 11 AM. Interment will take place in the Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery.

Ada L Bontrager, 84, of Middlebury, died at 4:15 am on Saturday, September 7 at her residence. She was born on March 4, 1935 in Ligonier, to Levi and Amelia (Yoder) Raber. On September 26, 1957 in LaGrange County, she married Samuel E. Bontrager; he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are three sons, Joseph (Rosemary) Bontrager of Ligonier, Floyd (Mary Sue) Bontrager, Mervin (Mary Esther) Bontrager both of Nappanee; four daughters, Katie Ann (Wayne) Bontrager of Shipshewana, LeEtta (Lonnie) Lambright, Vera Bontrager both of Middlebury, Edna (Vernon) Bontrager of Topeka; 36 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Yoder of Shipshewana, Katie (Harry W.) Miller of Millersburg, Amanda (Wilbur) Yoder of LaGrange; two sisters-in-law, Martha Raber of Shipshewana, Edna Raber of Middlebury. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Lloyd, and Glen Raber.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Anna A. Bontrager, 91, of Shipshewana, died at 3:10 pm, on Thursday, May 23 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, where she was admitted following a stroke. She was born on June 16, 1927, in Shipshewana, to Levi J. and Amanda (Christner) Wingard. On October 27, 1949 in LaGrange County she married Ervin M. Bontrager; he died February 28, 2018. They were married for 68 years.
Survivors include, Amanda (Joe) Skaggs of LaGrange, Wilma (Atlee) Chupp, Betty (Lyle) Helmuth, Doris (Jacob) Miller all of Shipshewana; 10 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; great-grandson, Matthew Jon Chupp; four sisters, Alta Yoder, Elizabeth Miller, Wilma Borntager, Edna Wingard (stillborn); brother, Freeman Wingard.

Daniel Ray Bontrager, age 54, of Bourbon, died unexpectedly of natural causes on his way home from Nappanee, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 12:50 pm. He was born April 29, 1964 in Sturgis, MI to Samuel W. and Bessie D. (Yoder) Bontrager.
Mr. Bontrager moved to Indiana 16 years ago from Hicksville, OH. On May 4, 1994, he married Mary Kathryn Kuhns in Topeka. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and had worked at Ayr Cabinets in Nappanee.
Survivng is his wife, Mary Kathryn; children, Nathan (Mary Kay) Bontrager, Marion (special friend, Regina Kuhns) Bontrager, both of Nappanee, Ruth (special friend, DeWayne Miller), Jonathan, Joseph, Jeremiah, Luke, Steve, Dorothy, Marilyn, Merle Bontrager, all at home; 1 grandson, Jeffery Bontrager; parents, Samuel & Bessie Bontrager, Nappanee; brothers, his twin, Samuel (Martha) Bontrager, Kaleva, MI, Duane (Ruth) Bontrager, Edwin (Martha) Bontrager, both of Milford, William (Sharon) Bontrager, Nappanee; and sister, Mary Fern Bontrager, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, Joanna Bontrager.

Edward E. Bontrager, 92, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Hospice House, Elkhart.
He was born August 16, 1926 to Daniel and Fannie (Kaufman) Bontrager in Hope, Michigan.
On November 11, 1950 he married Marcia Ellen Baldwin. She died January 29, 2018.
Survivors include nine children, Dottie (Gail) Groves of Goshen, Diana (Gary) Cook of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Darlene (Steve) Fanning of Shipshewana, Deborah (Vern) Bontrager of Elkhart, Denise (Russell) Jensen of Fort Wayne, Deloris (Craig) Gibson of South Bend, Edward (Tami) Bontrager, II of Warsaw, Donna (Tim) Miller of Tucson, Arizona and Dorene (Merle) Zook of Mount Sidney, Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren and three siblings, Omer (Sue) Bontrager of White Pigeon, Michigan, Edna (Chris) Schwartz of Sturgis, Michigan and Dan (Brenda) Bontrager of Middlebury.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, LeRoy, Ora, Willis and Theodore; sisters, Katie Albrecht and Velma Mast; and a grandson, Anthony Zook.
Mr. Bontrager was a member of Belmont Mennonite Church/Belmont Neighborhood Fellowship. He delivered mobile homes and at one time owned a gas station and developed real estate.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Prairie Street Mennonite Church, 1316 Prairie Street, Elkhart.
Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.

Edwin J. Bontrager, 96, of Shipshewana, died at 4:00 am, on Tuesday, June 11 at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange. He was born on February 5, 1923, in Shipshewana, to Eli J. and Amanda (Miller) Bontreger. On September 6, 1945 in LaGrange County, he married Anna Yoder; she died May 2, 2009.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas (Julie) Bontrager of Carmel, Mervin (Kathy) Bontrager of Middlebury, J. Mark (Phyllis) Bontrager of Shipshewana; four daughters, Polly Anna Bontrager of LaGrange, Esther (David) Wenger of Shipshewana, Elizabeth (Alvin) Schneider of Broadway, VA, Kathy Yoder of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three grandchildren, Christopher Carl, Megan Elizabeth, and Heidi Ann Schneider; son-in-law, Jack Yoder; three brothers, John, Manasseh, and Levi Bontreger; two sisters, Lydia Stoltzfus, Katie Stutzman-Miller.
He was a member of Riverview Christian Fellowship in White Pigeon, MI. He worked in local factories and was the owner/operator of Topeka Hardware and Town & Country Hardware in Shipshewana.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm, on Saturday June 15 at Riverview Christian Fellowship, 69212 US Highway 131 South, White Pigeon, MI. Friends and family will gather at 9:00 am on Sunday, June 16 at Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury, just west of CR 1000 West on CR 100 South, for a graveside service. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 16 at Riverview Christian Fellowship. Services will be conducted by Pastor Merlin Miller. Eldon Bontrager, 78, of Goshen, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1940 in LaGrange to Ora JK and Katie (Fry) Bontrager.
Survivors include three sons, Jason (Rose Mary) of Guatemala, Myron (Mary) of Taylorsville, Mississippi and Glendon of Columbus, Mississippi; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his wife, Thelma of Macon, Mississippi.
He is also survived by eight brothers, Ellis (Ruby) of Bristol, Elvie (Ruby) of Goshen, Allen of Phoenix, Arizona, Elroy (Michelle) of Goshen, Albert (Patty) of Wakarusa, Verlo (Linda) and Cletus (Brenda), both of LaGrange, and Marlin (Brenda) of Ashley; and five sisters, Ada Schrock of Bemidji, Minnesota, Mary Colwell of Brandon, Mississippi, Ola Cosby of Goshen, Bessie Lehman of Duncan, South Carolina and Velma (Jim) Larimer of Fairview, Michigan.
Eldon had a lifetime occupation of skilled cabinet making. He designed and detailed kitchens without the help of computers. He was a generous man, almost to a fault. He read the Bible faithfully and enjoyed biblical history. A talented singer, he enjoyed putting music to words. He was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Siloam Fellowship, 61616 C.R. 35, Goshen. Pastors Vern Hostetler and Dale Ropp will officiate.
Pastor Phillip Knepp will officiate the graveside service at Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka, following the funeral.

Irene M. Bontrager, 76, of Millersburg, died on Wednesday, June 5, at Woodside Rest, Dundee, OH, from natural causes. She was born on February 15, 1943 in Topeka to Milton and Anna (Hochstetler) Lambright. On December 18, 1962 in Topeka, she married Ervin A. Bontrager, he survives.

Mahlon M. Bontrager, 91, of Shipshewana, died at 4:00 pm on Monday, December 30, at his residence from natural causes. He was born on December 23, 1928, in LaGrange County, to Manas and Elizabeth (Miller) Bontrager. On December 21, 1950 in LaGrange County he married Lydia Mae Yoder, she died July 12, 1991; then on December 13, 1992 in LaGrange County he married Edna (Mast) Miller, she died May 21, 2016.

Marie Catherine Bontrager, 89 of Centreville passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 surrounded by her family at her daughter Orvin and Miriam Bontrager’s residence.
Marie was born February 19, 1930 a daughter of the late William N. and Lydiaann (Miller) Bontrager.
On February 9, 1950 she married Ezra J. Bontrager. They lived most their lives together in the Centreville area where she was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Marie is survived by three sons, Marvin (Alma) Bontrager of Nappanee, IN, William (Rosanna) Bontrager of Leonidas, and Freeman (Ella Mae) Bontrager of Sturgis, four daughters, Lydia (Harvey) Hochstetler of Colon, Sylvia (Marvin) Yoder of Colon, Miriam (Orvin) Bontrager of Colon, and Marie (Allen) Yoder of Centreville, 34 grandchildren, 110 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Leroy Bontrager of Hicksville, OH, and Samuel (Bessie) Bontrager of Nappanee, IN, 2 brother in laws Ezra (Mary) Gingerich of Millersburg, IN, Levi (Esther) Hostetler of Shipshewanna, IN, 1 Sister in law Anna Bontrager of Centreville, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son, one infant daughter, one grandson, one infant great granddaughter three sisters, Bertha, Pauline, and Alta, 1 brother Alva, and 3 in laws.

Perry had been a farmer for most of his life and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church, which he was ordained a Minister in 1969 and then a Bishop in 1971.

Philip "Phil" M. Bontrager, 56, of Goshen, passed away at 10:01 pm on Thursday, December 19, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, as the result of injuries from an automobile accident on December 7, 2019. He was born on March 13, 1963 in Goshen to Melvin and Drusilla (Mast) Bontrager. On October 4, 1986 in Goshen he married Denise Yoder, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are son, Jordan Bontrager; two daughters, Janessa Bontrager and Makayla Bontrager all of Goshen; his father and stepmother, Melvin and Malinda Bontrager of Berne; two brothers, James (Linda) Bontrager of Middlebury, Mark (Molly) Bontrager of Elkhart; two sisters, Gloria (Ken) Nisly of Due West, SC, Mary (Mark) Hochstetler of Westminster, SC.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Phil was the owner/operator of their family's business, Nappanee Laundry Center; he was also self-employed with Bontrager Insurance. He attended Grace Community Church in Goshen and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time and traveling in warm sunny weather and going on walks, especially at Fidler Pond where he often watched the sunset. Phil was known for his genuine interest in others, often helping, visiting and especially listening to other people.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, and 1:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, December 22, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Richard Dean Bontrager, 50, of LaGrange died at 12:49 pm on Tuesday, October 22, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, from injuries he sustained in a bicycle/auto accident earlier that day. He was preceded in death by his wife and father.
Richard was a farmer and worked at Spectrum Finishing, LaGrange. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church, where he served as a Deacon.

Sue Ann Bontrager, 27, of Shipshewana, died at 6:18 am, on Saturday, February 9, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. She was born on April 4, 1991, in LaGrange, to Perry Jr. and Rosetta (Borkholder) Bontrager.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Shipshewana are two sisters, Laura (Lavern) Fry of Millersburg, Marilyn (Eric) Yoder of Shipshewana; three brothers, Kenneth (Kaylene) Bontrager, Floyd Bontrager, and Lynn Bontrager all of Shipshewana; seven nieces, two nephews; grandparents, Perry L. and Katie Bontrager of Shipshewana and Edna Borkholder of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gilbert Borkholder.
The joy of her life was spending time with her nieces and nephews and working at the Crystal Hope Workshop. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 10 and all day Monday, February 11 at the family residence, 2260 N. 1000 W., Shipshewana. Verna Bontrager, 92, of Goshen, died Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Goshen Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1927 in Nappanee to Samuel C. and Amanda (Borkholder) Chupp.
On February 3, 1949 she married Gideon J. Bontrager. He died September 23, 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Bert) Stutzman of Goshen; two sons, Gene A. (Cinde) Bontrager of Goshen and James W. (Kris) Bontrager of Bourbon; daughter-in-law, Norma Bontrager of Goshen, nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four sisters, Anna Byler, Barbara Burkholder and Alma Stutzman, all of Nappanee and Elizabeth (Ralph) Miller of Goshen.
Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul L. and Larry G. Bontrager; seven brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Bontrager enjoyed baking and quilting. For many years she volunteered at The Depot. She was a member of Mount Joy Conservative Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, funeral service at Mt. Joy Conservative Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Burial will follow at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.

Lena (Mullett) Borkholder, age 41, of Nappanee, died at 1:10 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at her residence. She was born October 23, 1977 in LaGrange, IN to Herman E. and Elsie (Yoder) Mullett. On October 23, 1998 she married Marlin Jay Borkholder in Goshen, IN. Lena was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Marlin; daughter, Marcia Kay Borkholder, and a son, Paul Devon Borkholder, both at home; parents, Herman and Elsie (Yoder) Mullett, Sarasota, FL; sisters, Sharon (Homer) Bontrager, Myakka, FL, JoAnn (David) Bontrager, Middlebury, IN, Sara (Norman) Bontrager, Myakka, FL; brother, Kevin Mullett, Sarasota, FL; grandmother, Mary Mullett, Millersburg; 14 nieces; and 12 nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Enos Mullett and Amos Yoder; and a grandmother, Katie Yoder.

Wilma I. Borkholder, age 75, of Nappanee, died at 1:15pm, Friday, December 6, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness. Wilma was born on June 1, 1944 in Three Rivers, MI to Edward and Sylvia (Yoder) Hochstetler. She married Raymond E. Borkholder on May 24, 1967 in Nappanee, IN and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Borton, Marjorie Miller Rupp, 91, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died February 27, 2019 at the same place. She was born February 14, 1928 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH to Uriah and Carrie Miller. On July 8, 2000 at Wauseon, OH she was married to Lee Borton, who died May 3, 2003.
Marjorie was married to Harold E. Rupp on May 4, 1947. They were blessed with two Children, Steven and Linda. They were Charter members of the Tedrow Mennonite Church in 1949. Harold died suddenly 1996.
Surviving are children, Steven (Susan) Rupp, Fayette, OH and Linda (Tom) Young, Athens MI; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtie Warfield.
Her siblings, Jesse Miller, Irma Storrer, Earl Miller, and Edna Yoder preceded her in death.

Borton, Marjorie Miller Rupp
February 14, 1928 - February 27, 2019
Marjorie Marie Borton, 91 of Archbold, Ohio has joined our loving Creator at 10:49pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. She was born February 14, 1928 in Wauseon, Ohio to Uriah and Carrie Miller.
Marjorie was the youngest of 6 children and grew up on the family farm near Wauseon, OH. She attended Pettisville Schools and graduated in 1946. On May 4, 1947, Marjorie was married to Harold E. Rupp. Their home was blessed with two children, Steven and Linda.
Harold and Marjorie became charter members of Tedrow Mennonite Church in 1949 and were active in the mission work at Spencer. Marjorie and Harold lived and farmed in the Archbold area for eighteen years before moving to Sherwood, MI. Together they farmed and raised hogs for another eighteen years. During this time Marjorie was a cook at the Sherwood Elementary School and later at Union City High School.
The two moved to Naperville, IL where Harold was the maintenance man at Martin Manor, a retirement complex. Marjorie cleaned resident apartments and enjoyed time with the residents playing card games and bingo. In 1987 they retired and moved back to Archbold to be near childhood friends and family.
Harold and Marjorie kept busy playing card games with friends. They were always ready for company and couldnt wait for the children and grandchild to visit. Harold passed away unexpectedly in 1996.
Marjorie met Lee Borton at church, he had also recently lost his spouse. Their friendship grew and they were married on July 8, 2000. Marjorie and Lee moved into the condo they had built in the Fairlawn Haven Retirement Community in 2001 where she lived until 2016 when she moved to the Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Marjorie continued to spend time with friends, she became reacquainted with a childhood friend, Dale Gautsche. You could find the two of them playing cards, going to breakfast, and taking long drives around the country.
Surviving are her sister Myrtie Warfield or Archbold, OH. Her two children, Steven (Susan) Rupp of Fayette, OH. Linda (Tom) Young of Athens, MI; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Rocky) Smith of Sturgis, MI, Joshua (Jennifer) Eichorn of Peoria, AZ, Vanessa (Aaron) Tissue of Centreville, MI, Eli (Sara) Rupp of Delta, OH, Levi (Nicole) Rupp of Fayette, OH, Holly (Eric) Towell of Columbus, OH; 10 great-grandchildren, Patrick and Edwin Andersen, Alexander and Victoria Smith, Kayla, Katlin, Thomas, and Amelia Tissue, Jessica and Jason Eichorn, and one on the way (William Hawkeye Rupp).
She is preceded in death by her parents Uriah and Carrie Miller, 4 older siblings Jesse (Pauline) Miller, Irma (Ralph) Storrer, Earl (Audrey) Miller, Edna (Robert) Yoder, her first husband, Harold Rupp and her second husband Lee Borton.

Breneman, Joanne Faye Kauffman, 43, of 465 Back Rd., Rebersburg, PA, entered into her Savior's presence at 2:55 a.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, five days after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke.
She was born July 1, 1975, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Amos L. and Sarah (Stoltzfus) Kauffman. Joanne taught school several years and served seven years with Northern Youth Ministries, in Dryden, Ontario, Canada. On April 26, 2008, she married Timothy Breneman, a widower with 4 children.
Joanne was an active member of Valley Mennonite Church, Spring Mills, PA.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy, and seven children: Rose married to Joel Kauffman of Rebersburg, Dawn, David, Sharon, Jennifer, Amy, and Michael Breneman; her parents, Amos L. and Sarah Kauffman; five siblings, Christina married to Daniel Weaver, Anita Kauffman, Rhonda Kauffman, Clifford Kauffman married to Elaine (Eby), all of Lewisburg, and Arla married to Jason Rovenolt of Milton, PA and two grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to the visitation hours on Thursday, January 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Morning Star Mennonite Church, 1835 Mensch Rd, Mifflinburg. On May 18, 1946 at Lyons Falls, Lewis Co., NY she was married to William J. Brown, who died December 4, 2008.

Barbara enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen and had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.

Brubacker, John S., 73, of Reading, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 2, 2019.
He was married 53 years to Rachel M. Gehman Brubacker. Born in Morgantown, he was the son of the late Paul and Lena Sensenig Brubacker.
John was employed for many years as a carpenter, working at Agri, Inc., Blue Lake Builders and Fast Supply. He was later self-employed as a handyman in Reading. He was a member of Shiloh Mennonite Church in Reading and had spent 15 years as a missionary in Grenada. John had a heart for the people of Grenada and spoke of them often.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, singing along to good music, fixing plumbing issues, leading "Brubacker hikes," and talking to everyone he met. He was a great storyteller and interacted well with children.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons: Michael, husband of Corinne Zimmerman Brubacker of Ephrata, and Daryl Brubacker of Reading; four daughters: Marie, wife of Eugene Lapp of Kinzers, Regina, wife of Cliff Horning of Denver, Reba, wife of Steve Patches of Manheim, and Darla, wife of Dale Martin of Wernersville; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul, husband of Ida Brubacker of Carlisle; and two sisters: Ruth, wife of Melvin Weaver of Reinholds and Norma, wife of Jay Fox of Reading. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jim Naumann.

Brubaker, Allen, 81, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Allen was born March 3, 1937, in Dauphin County, Pa., where he grew up on a 165-acre farm in Conewago Township. He was the son of the late Charles E. and Etta G. Brubaker.
He is survived by his wife, Erma R. Brubaker, and four children: Martha, married to Ken Cuomo; Myron, married to Regina Slabach; and sons, Brian and Michael. Allen was also blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Allen had a lifelong love for Jesus Christ and his church and spent all of his working life in mission work, radio broadcasts, Christian journalism, and church relations. In his private life, he enjoyed gardening and outdoor recreation with his family.
Even in retirement he continued his passion for service by volunteering at the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center and at the Gift and Thrift Store along Mount Clinton Pike.
Allen especially enjoyed reunions with his 10 siblings: Wilbur (deceased), married to Edna Tyson; Helen, married to Samuel Haldeman; Glenn, married to Josephine Tyson; Charles, married to Mary Weaver (deceased); Roy, married to Esther Heisey; Mildred, married to Jose’ Feliz; Mark, married to Ruth Myer; Nancy, married to James Fahnestock; Janet, married to Tony Rios (deceased); and Lois, married to Mervin Horst.
Pastor Phil Kniss will conduct a memorial service Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Park View Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Brubaker, John A., age 92, formerly of Christiana, PA, passed away at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Sunday, October 27, 2019. He was the husband of M. Elizabeth Neff Brubaker with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage with on March 24th. He was born in Duchess, Alberta, Canada, son of the late George L. & Ruth Shetter Brubaker.
He was a farmer in the Christiana Area and later provided transportation to the Amish Community. John was a member of the Nickel Mines Mennonite Church where in the past he was custodian and caretaker of the cemetery. He enjoyed gardening especially growing potatoes. He had a very creative mind and enjoyed doing puzzels.

John David Brubaker, 68, of Myerstown, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a 10 year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Velma S. Gingrich Brubaker. He was born in Lebanon, PA, on November 11, 1950, a son of the late Abram A. and Anna Mae Hess Brubaker.
He was a self-employed farmer all of his life and also an agricultural seed salesman for 15 years. John was a member of the Mt. Hope Mennonite Church in Manheim.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Lori Ann Denlinger (Tim) and Jason David Brubaker (Coleen) both of Myerstown; John Eric Brubaker (Janeice) of Forksville, PA; and Regina Eileen Brubaker of Harrisonburg, VA; five grandsons, Carson, Hans, Zachary, Carter and William; five granddaughters, Kaitlyn Byler (Colson), Kara, Tiffany, Abigail and Kayce; one great-grandson, Grant Byler; two brothers, Herbert Brubaker (Laverna) of Myerstown; Abram Brubaker (Ruth) of Akron; three sisters, Mary Louise Mosemann (James) of Edmonton, KY; Joyce Edris (Karl) of Lebanon; Delores Brubaker of South Mountain. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Lorraine Ritchie (Tom) and Susan Marie Brubaker.

Bishop Leonard L. Brubaker, 88, of Myerstown, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 in his home. He was the husband of the late Miriam S. Zimmerman Brubaker. He was born in Jackson Township, Lebanon County, on July 19, 1931, a son of the late Norman A. and Lovina Gingrich Brubaker.
Leonard was employed as a farmer and served in the ministry for 52 years. He was a member of Martins Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.

Norah Grace Brubaker, 10, of Harrisonburg, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at U.Va. after a sudden illness and three weeks in critical care.
Norah was born May 18, 2008, in Harrisonburg to Eric Stephen and Margaret “Peggy” Sterling Brubaker. In addition to her parents, Norah is survived by her sister, Lydia Hope Brubaker; grandparents, Dennis and Alice Brubaker, of Harrisonburg, and Charles Sterling and the Rev. Dr. Sue Shorb-Sterling, of Brookeville, Md.; great-grandmother, Charlotte Gehr, of Westminster, Md.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church, 1600 College Ave., Harrisonburg, with the Rev. Phil Kniss officiating.

Brubaker, Roy A., 100, of Lititz, died peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Landis Homes Retirement Community. Born in Strasburg, he was the son of the late Christian M. and Fannie Weaver Brubaker. Roy was the loving husband of the late Martha Jane Reist Brubaker who died in January of 2011.
For many years Roy was the owner and operator of Roy A. Brubaker Farm Equipment Company, Lititz, and served on the Lancaster Farm and Home Board. Roy was instrumental in forming the Rural Youth Organization for young adults to participate in social activities after graduation from 4-H clubs. He was an active and faithful member of Lititz Mennonite Church, where he served as chairman of the church council, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He was an active member of the Christian Business Men's Committee of Lancaster County. Roy was also very involved in the Lititz Rotary Club, where he was past president. He founded the Lititz Rotary Travelogue film series and became known as "Mr. Travelogue." He was a 1936 graduate of Strasburg High School, and treasured organizing his high school class reunions. Roy enjoyed traveling whenever he had the opportunity, and loved to just drive and see the countryside.
Surviving are three sons: Donald R. husband of Elaine Brubaker of Ephrata, Thomas A. husband of Kathy Brubaker of Ann Arbor, MI, Leon M. husband of Carolyn Brubaker of Akron, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Ethan Lehman, (Karen) of Hutchinson, KS. Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Virginia Ann Lehman, six brothers, and three sisters.

Brunk, Ruth Derstine Detweiler, 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2019, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edna Detweiler, and her sister, Beulah (Stutzman). She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Nelson; her two brothers, Walter (LaAry) and Donald (Nancy); her three children, Carol (Bob Harnish), Judy (Gary Blosser) and Brad (Patti King); seven grandchildren, Kate (Ed Plocher) and Jonathan (Vicki Garcia) Harnish, Becky (David) Werlin and Shannon Blosser, Rachel (David) Woje, Mollee Brunk, and Landon (Kia Jeffords) Brunk; and six great-grandchildren, Sid, Sam and Sophia Werlin and Raelynn, Sage and Judah Woje.
Ruth was born at home in Souderton, Pa., on Aug. 19, 1927. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg. As a young adult she developed her writing and public speaking skills focusing on topics that challenged people to reflect on faith and life issues. Prior to her marriage to Nelson on March 11, 1950, Ruth worked at Souderton Bank and Provident Bookstore. They spent many years in Maryland, and later “snowbirded” between Sarasota, Fla., and Colorado Springs, Colo. They chose to join the VMRC community late in life as a place to reconnect with old friends and develop new ones.
Ruth loved creating handcrafted items as gifts for family and friends, as well as donating items to the MCC Relief Sale in Colorado. She was an adventurous cook, a gift she passed on to her children, and was a gracious hostess to many guests throughout her married life. Ruth dearly loved to read and traveled widely with Nelson for pleasure, education and mission work. She gave of her time and talents to each church she belonged to as well as MCC stores, MEDA and several Mennonite church camps.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Strite Auditorium of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community with pastors Craig Maven and Eric Martin officiating.

Brunk, Ruth Derstine Detweiler, 91, of Harrisonburg, VA died January 30, 2019 at the same place. She was born August 19, 1927 at Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA to Alvin and Edna Detweiler. On March 11, 1950 she was married to Nelson Brunk, who survives.
Surviving are children, Carol (Bob Harnish), Judy (Gary Blosser), and Brad (Patti King); seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter (LaAry) and Donald (Nancy).
A sister, Beulah Stutzman preceded her in death.
Ruth was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, Va. She worked at Souderton Bank and Provident Bookstore, crafted and donated to MCC Relief Sale in Colorado, and gave her time and talents to MCC stores, MEDA, and several Mennonite church camps.

Brunner, Grace Kathleen Derstine, 89, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died December 11, 2019 at Newton, Harvey Co., KS. She was born July 12, 1930 at Kitchner, Ontario, Canada to C.F. and Mary (Kolb) Derstine. On August 21, 1954 at Kitchner she was married to Paul D. Brunner, who was born July 24, 1925 and died July 24, 2014.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly (Nelson) Goertzen and a son, Scott Brunner; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Bucher, Betty Jane Ruppert

Betty Jane Ruppert Bucher, died on May 30, 2019 in Lititz. She was born in York, on January 25, 1926. Her parents were the late Henry Lewis Ruppert and Hettie Good Martin Ruppert. She graduated from East Lampeter High School in 1944. In 1945, she married Roy Carper Bucher of Ephrata. He attended Goshen College and Seminary and was pastor of the East Peoria Mennonite Church, Metamora Mennonite Church in Illinois and Doylestown Mennonite Church in Doylestown. He also served as chaplain at the Doylestown Hospital for seven years. Betty worked as manager of the Provident Bookstore in Doylestown. She has resided at Landis Homes in Lititz, for several years and is a member of the Neffsville Mennonite Church.
She is survived by three children: Judy (Samuel Hope), of Fairfax, VA, Darrel of East Lampeter, and Carlene (Gary Meyers), of New Britain, and three grandchildren: Melissa Meyers (Ed Gibson), of Lansdale, Marcia Meyers (Pat McGee) of Lansdale, and Mark Meyers (Abby Kauffman) of Pottstown, and seven great-grandchildren: Patrick, Lily and Madalyn McGee, Emma and Jack Gibson, and Harper and Clayton Meyers. She is also survived by a brother, Jay Ruppert of Ephrata. Preceding her in death is a foster daughter, Norma Imhoff and a sister-in-law, Fay Ruppert.

Buckwalter, Kathryn "Kitt" Huber, 97, formerly of Leola, died on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, where she resided for over 13 years. She was the wife of the late J. Clyde Buckwalter, who died in 2005.
Kathryn was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Class of 1939.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed many years of sewing, knitting, doing Scherenschnitte, tending her rose garden and visiting with family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Born in West Lampeter Township, she was the daughter of the late Stella T. (Myers) Huber.
Kathryn is survived by a son, Nathan C. married to Venessa (Adams) Buckwalter of Mount Joy.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Buckwalter, in 2004; a brother, Laverne Huber and a sister, Helen Pries.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View for the excellent care that she received during her extended stay.

Buckwalter, Richard Benjamin
February 22, 1925 - March 10, 2019
Richard Benjamin Buckwalter, New Holland, PA, passed away in the company of his family during the early morning hours of March 10 at Garden Spot Village. Richard was born on February 22, 1925 in Lancaster, PA, the third of six children born in the midst of the Great Depression, all raised by his mother Martha Denlinger Buckwalter (1897 - 1987) after the unfortunate passing of his father, John Buckwalter (1896 - 1935). His sister, Rhoda Salim, survives while Robert, Dorothy Thomas, Ruth Stauffer, and John preceded him in death.
Richard married Sara Rebecca Hostetter (1925 - ) on Jan 6, 1945. They worked as partners to raise a family and develop a family farm, purchasing their own farm in Cochranville, PA, in 1959 where they cultivated 140 acres and tended a herd of approximately 50 Holsteins. When his eldest son, Richard L. Buckwalter, took over responsibility for the farm, Richard's unflagging work ethic led him to a career path more typical of today's gig economy than that of the single company commitments associated with his Great Generation. He worked in landscaping, gardening supplies, auto parts delivery and back to landscaping making fast friends wherever he worked. When he finally retired from employment, he taught himself how to cross-stitch and made well over 100 quilts and wall-hangings that will grace his family and friend's homes for generations to come.
Richard was a lifelong member of the Mennonite Church. As was the Church's tradition he was ordained from its membership into a role as a leader, first as a Deacon at Old Road Mennonite in Gap, PA in 1959 and then as Pastor at Old Road in 1963. in addition to his pastoral duties at Old Road, he was a frequent evangelist and Adult Bible School teacher throughout the Lancaster Mennonite Conference. Despite a lack of formal education, he was widely respected for his well-reasoned and heartfelt presentations of Christian Anabaptist theology and lifestyle. After retiring from Old Road, he served as interim pastor at Andrew's Bridge Mennonite, Christiana, PA, and the Welsh Mountain Mennonite Church, New Holland, PA. He was also gifted with a fine tenor voice.
Richard was the father of four children, Eloise Glick (1946 - ), Lititz, PA, wife of Jesse Glick (1942 – 2018), Richard L. Buckwalter (1948 - ), New Holland, PA, husband of Deborah Shank Buckwalter (1949 - ), Victor L. Buckwalter (1952 - ), Keezletown, VA, husband of Christina Yoder Buckwalter (1951 - ), and J. Galen Buckwalter (1956 - ), Sierra Madre, CA, husband of Deborah Fremouw Buckwalter (1952 - ). He has 9 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and a grand total of 29 great-grandchildren. They will live with memories of his meal-time prayers, a level of gusto independent of skill level evident on any sports field, occasional belly laughs and unwavering acceptance and constant emotional availability.
The family would like to thank the staff at Winter Garden at Garden Spot Village for their outstanding care and compassion during Richard's final days.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17 at 2 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. Buller, Mildred June Regier, 89, of Newton, Harvey Co., KS died May 10, 2019 at the same place. She was born June 26, 1929 at Halstead, Harvey Co., KS to Edward C. and Anna May (Dick) Regier. On June 14, 1950 at Buhler, Reno Co., KS she was married to Franklin Allen Buller, who died November 29, 2001.
Surviving are children, Donita (Merlin) Eck; Keith (Deb) Buller; Cheryl (Dave) Nottingham; and Dale Buller; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Brent Buller and a brother, Milton Regier preceded her in death.

John Lee Buller, 90, of Goshen, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Waterford Crossing.
He was born December 19, 1928 in Buhler, Kansas to Herman and Elizabeth (Neufeld) Buller.
On September 22, 1951, he married Beulah Schrock at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Topeka. She died Nov. 23, 2016.
Survivors include four sons, Jim (Jane) and John (Yvonne) Buller, both of Goshen and Myron (Connie Johnson) and Bruce (Katie) Buller, both of Breckenridge, Colorado; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two siblings, Leda (Jim) Kaufman Gaeddart of Moundridge, Kansas and Richard Buller of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Erma Goering and Lewis Buller.
Mr. Buller was an active member of Pleasant View Church, teaching Sunday school for more than 50 years. For many years he was a diesel mechanic and later in life worked for Indiana Wood Products as a timber purchaser. A sports enthusiast, Mr. Buller, enjoyed football and supporting his son and grandchildren at Bethany Christian sporting events.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Church. A private burial will take place.

Marilyn J. Burkey 82, of Hebron, died at 10:35 am on Wednesday, November 27 at Woodland Manor, Elkhart. She was born on November 22, 1937 in LaGrange to J. Elmer and Rosa (Yoder) Miller. On September 20, 1958 in Shipshewana, she married Lester L. Burkey, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters, Rena Hedrick of Hebron, Pam (Mike) Smith of Goshen; one son, Jeff Burkey of Reno, NV; five grandchildren, Sarah (Hedrick) Lewis of Villa Rica, GA, Lindsay Hedrick of Hebron, Amanda (Keith) Eberhardt of Canton, OH, Ashley Smith of Goshen, Cameron Glasser of Reno, NV; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Neff of LaGrange, Rosalie Yoder of Topeka; brother, Dewayne (Shelby) Miller of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Terry Hedrick; six sisters, Wilma Arlene Miller, Erma Miller, Beulah Stutzman, Ruth Louise Lambright, Charlotte Morningstar, Carolyn Dillon; seven brothers, Dwight Miller, Francis Miller, William Miller, Harold Miller, George Elliot, Arthur Elliot, Henry Elliot; and grandson, Chad Smith.
Marilyn was a 1955 graduate of Shipshewana High School and a 1956 graduate of the Goshen College Business School. She was a hard worker having a career at several banks for more than 45 years in numerous positions from teller to bank officer, retiring in 2002. Marilyn was a Godly woman who loved the Lord. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crafts and traveling with her family.
Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm on Friday, November 29 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury and one hour prior to the 10 am funeral service on Saturday, November 30 at Shore Church, 7235 W 100 N, Shipshewana. Burkey, Phyllis L. Bowen, 95, of Milford, NE died June 16, 2019 at Seward, Seward Co., NE. She was born September 20, 1923 at Friend, Saline Co., NE to Milo and Violet (Snodgrass) Bowen. On May 26, 1945 at Friend, NE she was married to Arnold Burkey, who died in 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Tim (Bonnie) Burkey and Sid (Peg) Burkey; and six grandchildren.

Anna Mary Burkholder, 91, loving wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Fairmount Home, Ephrata, PA. She was born in Akron, Lancaster County on April 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Ezra S. and Anna B. Zimmerman Martin. Anna Mary was wife of M. Lloyd Burkholder with whom she celebrated 71 years of marriage on October 25, 2018. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Esther Mae Martin (Glenn) of Womelsdorf; Alta Zimmerman (Leon) of Newmanstown; Miriam Fox (Raymond) of Ephrata; Lloyd Burkholder (Jane) of Lebanon; Susan Lehman (Nelson) of Myerstown; Leon Burkholder (June) of Lebanon; Mary Jane Nolt (Burnell) of Peach Bottom; Joyce Eberly (Philip) of Myerstown; 43 grandchildren; 167 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Z. Brubaker of Myerstown; Edna Z. Sensenig (Barton) of Myerstown; Alta Z. Musser (Alvin) of Memphis, MO; brothers, Hershey Z. Martin (Anna) of Lebanon; Willis Z. Martin (Alta) of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Brubaker, Nora Martin Horst; brothers, Lester Martin, Ezra Martin, James Martin.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 9:30 am in Fairview Mennonite Church, 111 Elco Drive, Myerstown, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Burkholder, Anna Mary N., 82, of Leola, passed away at her home, at 9:00 AM, on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Born in Upper Leacock Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Anna Mary S. (Nolt) Burkholder.
She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Anna Mary is survived by three brothers, Paul N. (late Frances R.) Burkholder of Leola, Elmer N. (Mary H.) Burkholder of Leola, Leroy N. (Annetta M.) Burkholder of East Earl; three sisters, Esther N. and Elsie N. Burkholder with whom she resided, Sarah N. (the late John Z.) Brubacher of Leola; a brother-in-law, J. Jacob Zimmerman of Leola; a sister-in-law, Emma Z. Burkholder of Ionia, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan N. and Willis N. Burkholder; two sisters, Martha N. Burkholder and Katie N. Zimmerman and a stillborn brother.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 PM at the the late residence, 183 Forest Hill Road, Leola. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 8:45 AM from the late residence, with further services at 9:30 AM from the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Leola, with Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Burkholder, John Richard "J.R."
December 19, 1928 - December 20, 2019
John Richard "J.R." Burkholder, Goshen, IN, died at the Gables of Greencroft Healthcare on December 20th. He was 91. Burkholder was born December 19, 1928, in Lancaster, PA to Clarence and Blanche (Herr) Burkholder. He graduated from East Lampeter High School in 1946. Following high school he attended both Eastern Mennonite College (VA) and Goshen College (IN). In 1952 he married Susan Elizabeth Herr, who survives him.
He is survived by five children: Kelli (John) King, Lissa (Alex Baró), Samuel (Christine Wirkkala), Rebecca (Blaine Derstine), and Peter (Shannen Hill); eight grandchildren: Jacob and Suzanne King, Elizabeth Miller-Derstine and Caleb Derstine, Lucas and Hans Wirkkala Burkholder, and Jonah and Linus Burkholder; and two great-grandchildren: Rivers and Sage King. J.R. was the eldest brother to Harold, who died in 2009, and Charles, surviving.
Burkholder was baptized as a teenager into Mellinger’s Mennonite Church in Lancaster, PA. His interest, love, and faithfulness to the Mennonite Church was based on his childhood experiences at Mellinger’s Church and the Mennonite community there. He was ordained to the ministry in the Mennonite Church in 1954. He and his wife, Sue, served as missionaries to Brazil from 1954 to 1957.
In 1955 he completed a Bachelors of Divinity at Goshen Biblical Seminary (now Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary) and later earned a Ph.D. in Religion and Society from Harvard University. He assumed leadership roles in several congregations and worked and did staff or committee work for various church-related agencies.
Known later in life as J.R., he taught 22 years at Goshen College, followed by teaching at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (Elkhart, IN), the Latin American Biblical Seminary (Costa Rica), and the University of South Africa. His teaching fields included social ethics, peace and conflict studies, church history, and theology. He led study groups to Central America and Ireland.
Burkholder served as director of the Dallas Peace Center (1982-84), board member of Christian Peacemaker Teams, and was a member of the Fellowship of Reconciliation National Council (1966-1972). He and Sue were involved with many other local and national peace and justice initiatives, including weekly community peace vigils in downtown Goshen.
Burkholder, an influential ethicist and peacemaking advocate, presented dozens of papers at academic conferences, published numerous articles in academic journals, and co-authored several books. In 2010, a collection of some of Burkholder’s works on pacifism, public witness, patriotism, Mennonite ethics, and healthcare were published as Prophetic Peacemaking: Selected Writings of J.R.Burkholder. Editor Keith Graber Miller says these writings and academic presentations were “reflections on faithful living, relevant for future generations of peacemakers.” He was an active participant and contributor to the mid to late 20th Century movement in Mennonite peace theology, from nonparticipation in war to active witness for peace and justice.
Burkholder’s interest in aviation and early ambitions to become a pilot spurred him to take flying lessons and culminated in his own solo flight. But running became his passion during the 70s and 80s, and he enjoyed running with his Goshen community friends. In recent years he picked up his teenage love of science fiction and mystery novels, and he continued to be a faithful fan of the Goshen College basketball team (just as his father was) into his 90s.
J.R. and Sue have been longtime members of Assembly Mennonite Church. Visitation will take place at the church, 727 New York St. Goshen, IN, on Friday January 24 from 4-7 pm. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 25 at 11 am. His body was donated to the Indiana University Medical School. Burial will be at a later date at Violett Cemetery.

Burkholder, Mabel Zimmerman, 77, of Edina, Missouri, entered in to rest February 10th 2019 at her home.
She was born May 1, 1941 at East Earl PA Lancaster Co. the daughter of the late Noah S. and Lizzie N. (Sauder) Zimmerman.
On October 17, 1961, in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, Mabel married Raymond Z. Burkholder and to this union 10 children were born.
Mabel and her husband moved to Missouri in February of 1974. She was a member of Millport Mennonite Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Raymond of 57 years, and their 9 sons and one daughter: Kenneth (Marlene) Burkholder of Baring MO, Wilmer (Betty) Burkholder of Edina MO, Raymond Jr. (Wilma) Burkholder of Baring MO, Ralph (Linda) Burkholder of Downing MO, Leonard (Lonita) Burkholder of Edina MO, Neil (Lucinda) Burkholder of Milford NE, Alvin (Lena Mae) Burkholder of Baring MO, Esther (Lavern) Burkholder of Arbela MO, Lewis (Mary Ella) Burkholder of Baring MO, and James (Christine) Burkholder of Edina MO.
Also surviving are also 68 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, four brothers: Ivan (Ruth) Zimmerman of Narvon PA, Leroy (Verna) Zimmerman of Mifflinburg PA, Noah (Ella) Zimmerman of Martinsburg PA, three sisters: Alta (John) Weaver of East Earl PA, Anna Mary Hoover of Morgantown PA, Esther (Alvin) Horst of Shelby OH, and a sister-in-law Mary Ella Zimmerman of Richland, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother David Zimmerman and a brother-in-law Leroy Hoover, one grandson-in-law Jonathan Martin and one stillborn great grandson Kade Nolt.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February13, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Community Center south of Memphis, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Millport Mennonite Church, south of Rutledge, Missouri.
Pall Bearers will be Daryl Burkholder, Harlan Burkholder, Quentin Burkholder, Travis Burkholder, Tyler Burkholder, and Wesley Burkholder.
Officiating will be Abner Oberholtzer, Carl Hoover, Calvin Hoover and Earl Oberholtzer.

Burkholder, Thelma Hurst, 62, of East Earl, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Her husband of 41 years, Harold R. Burkholder, survives.
Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lydia Jane (Martin) Hurst.
A loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Thelma's family was her passion.Thelma was last employed as a dietary aid at Garden Spot Village and was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children and 16 grandchildren: Chad married to Krystal Burkholder and their children, Timothy, Hans, Tanner, Sophia, Chloe; Eric married to Sharon Burkholder and their children, Victoria, Taylor, Madalyn, Brielle; Duane married to Sandra Burkholder and their children, Lincoln, Diesel, Colston, Finnley; Staci married to Keldon Martin and their children, Hollie, Dakoda, Weston; three sisters and six brothers.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren: Tyler, Grace and Roman.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Rd., Ephrata (Martindale). Bushong, Nelson L.
September 30, 1923 - December 24, 2019
Nelson L. Bushong, 96 of Goshen died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born September 30, 1923 in Elkhart to Hugh and Marie (Unrue) Bushong.
On December 12, 1954 he married Evelyn L. Hartzler in Goshen. She died March 29, 2017.
Survivors include two sons, Garen (Susan) Bushong of North Manchester and Steven (Helen) Bushong of Goshen; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lou Tirschek of Elkhart.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Bushong served in the Asiatic Theatre during WWII. He was a medical clerk typist with the 77th Infantry and saw action on Okinawa, Japan. He was promoted to supervisor and directed the 8-1 administrative section at division headquarters. Nelson was then transferred to the 7th Calvary in Tokyo, Japan and discharged as a Sergeant Major in 1946.
After returning home, he began work as a teller in the banking industry, eventually retiring as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of the Administration Division at Salem Bank and Trust Company.
As a member of 8th Street Mennonite Church, Nelson served on various boards and commissions. He was a member of The Exchange Club of Goshen and volunteered as a Red Coat at Goshen Hospital.
He also served as a board member with the following groups; Crown International; Goshen Hospital and Healthcare Foundation; American Red Cross; Goshen Chamber of Commerce; and Elkhart River Restoration.
Visitation will begin Monday, December 30, 2019 at 9 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Brenda Sawatzky Paetkau, 8th Street Mennonite Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Byler, Betty Jean Shirk
August 2, 1928-March 19, 2019
Betty Jean Shirk Byler, 90, died on March 19, 2019 at Yoder House at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. She was born Aug. 2, 1928 in Paradise, Pa., to parents Paul E. and Bertha Mae Denlinger Shirk (deceased). She was married to Jesse T. Byler (deceased) on Oct. 20, 1951.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Cheryl Joy Byler Keeler (Mark Keeler) of Grottoes; J. Daryl Byler (Cindy Lehman Byler) of Harrisonburg; Judy Theresa Byler Kiel (Paul Kiel) of Raleigh, N.C.
She had seven grandchildren, Jessica Byler, Bronson Keeler (deceased), Holden Byler (Heidi Bowman Byler), Austin Keeler (Carlene Christine Keeler), Jeremy Byler (Lyndsay Adams Byler), Jackson Kiel, Erin Kiel and four great-grandchildren, Sydney Byler, Kiara Byler, Jesse Byler, and Davey Byler.
Betty was an identical twin to Mary Jane Frederick, (deceased); other siblings include Lois E. Hollinger (Lititz, Pa.); P. Norman Shirk (deceased), Kenneth L. Shirk (deceased).
Betty graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School and received an associate’s arts degree from Eastern Mennonite University with a concentration in library science (1980). Her favorite course was Private Pilot Ground School.
Betty’s various out-of-home jobs included: bookkeeper at her father’s Shirk Chevrolet; Census taker (1970); driver for Rockingham County Schools (taking children to the doctor, dentist, testing centers and speech and hearing centers) and serials librarian at EMU. Upon retirement, she was a volunteer cashier at Gift and Thrift in Harrisonburg.
Betty loved Wednesday evening gatherings with her family; traveling (including trips with each of her grandchildren), her church family at Zion Mennonite, watching evening primroses open, doing word searches, riding her John Deere lawn mower and Saturday morning phone calls to out-of-town family. She was known for her “belly laugh.”
Byler, Lester A.
December 3, 1931 - May 29, 2019
Lester A. Byler, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Nappanee, IN, just before noon on May 29, 2019.
He was one of 10 children and was born December 3, 1931, to Andrew F. and Lydia (Troyer) Byler in Middlefield, OH.
He was first married to Elizabeth Ann (Lizzy Ann) Hochstetler June 25, 1953 in West Farmington, OH. This marriage was blessed with two sons Philip and Larry and one daughter Rhoda.
He married Ruby June Schmucker on May 5, 1972 in Nappanee, IN. This marriage was blessed with two daughters Ruth and Naomi.
He served at the Cleveland Hospital as a conscientious objector during the Korean War in the early 1950’s. He lived in Ohio until after his second marriage, at which point he moved to Nappanee where he has been since. He will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his Lord and Savior as well as his family. He loved spending winters in Sarasota, FL where he was also able to enjoy bird watching. His sense of humor and ability to laugh at himself even as his dementia progressed will continue to bring smiles to his family.
He is survived by his current wife of 47 years, Ruby; children, Phil (Cathy) Byler, FL, Larry (Violet) Byler, KS, Rhoda (Adam) Rees, MN, Ruth (Nathanael) Yoder, Greece, Naomi Byler, IN; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandsons; brother, Andy (Sue) Byler; sisters, Clara (Joe) Miller, OH, Kathryn (William) Byler, OH, and Lydia Ann (Joe) Petersheim, MO.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lizzy Ann; parents, Andrew and Lydia Byler; brothers, Albin (Martha) Byler, FL, Freeman (Sarah) Byler, OH; sisters, Anna (Joe) Mullet, OH, Irene (Andy) Yoder, OH, Mary Ellen (Jonas) Bontrager, OH.
He was a member of Maple Lawn Amish Mennonite Church. Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 1-4 and 5-7 p.m. at Maple Lawn Church. Funeral and burial services will be held at the Maple Lawn Church Sunday, June 2nd at 2 p.m. Pastors, Paul Yoder, Gary Burkholder and Clyde Byler (Lester’s nephew) will officiate.

Byler, Noah B., 76, of Goshen, died at 11:46 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Goshen Health Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1942, in Mercer County, PA, to Benedict and Sarah (Miller) Byler. On August 28, 1969, in Middlebury, he married Caroline Schwartz; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are four daughters, Lorene (Floyd) Schrock, Marilyn Byler, Katherine Byler all of Goshen, Christina (Enos) Miller of Shipshewana; son, Daniel (Loretta) Byler of Goshen; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah (Roman) Byler of Stoneboro, PA; two brothers, Joe (Edna) Byler of Fredonia, PA, Daniel (Saloma) Byler of Jefferson, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and four sisters.
He built storage barns and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 9, and all day Sunday, February 10, at the family’s residence, 60845 SR 13, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, February 11, at the Stewart Hochstetler residence, 61120 SR 13, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Bishop John Stoltzfus and the home ministers. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.
